According to the press release, their third generation Variant Refrigerant Flow (VRF) Multi V III commercial air conditioning system headlined the new line of products. It is more efficient and space-saving than previous models with faster cooling and an AHRI certified rating.
LG’s new line of HVAC products shows that there is a demand for energy efficient products for heating and cooling. In fact, Pike Research has predicted that HVAC is the fasted growing sector of the green building market.
HVAC Predicted to Lead Energy Efficiency Market
Pike Research estimates that the market for energy efficient buildings will increase more than 50 percent from 2011 to 2017, topping out at $103.5 billion by the latter year.
This expansion will affect individuals and stakeholders in a number of green building-related sectors, especially professionals who develop sustainable heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, said the report. HVAC is projected to be a leading sector in the green building industry, growing from $3.1 billion to $6.4 billion by 2017.
“The structure of energy efficient building markets varies considerably from one country or region to another and vendors and service providers aiming to increase their coverage of energy efficiency markets must remain cognizant of the changing dynamics in order to maintain a strong presence,” Pike research analyst Eric Bloom said in a press release.
Green Jobs: Professional Certification for HVAC Technicians
With the green building market expanding, individuals may find greater opportunities for green building jobs from construction, architecture and engineering firms.
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building program offers LEED Green Associate and LEED AP with specialty credentials that can help many of these workers develop the foundation of their professional sustainability knowledge.
However, HVAC professionals may also want to seek industry-specific certification to prepare themselves for the job opportunities that may result from the sector’s growth.
The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) offers certification for HVAC and refrigeration professionals. This society focuses on energy efficiency, indoor air quality and sustainability in the building industry.
Additionally, North American Technician Excellence (NATE) conducts testing and awards certification to top technicians in the HVAC industry. Including such certification on their job application may help candidates distinguish themselves from other applicants
